The Utah Hockey Club announced Tuesday that it has signed goaltender Jaxson Stauber to a two-year, two-way extension that carries a $775,000 cap hit at the NHL level.

In six outings with Utah this season, Stauber went 2-1-1 with an .892 save percentage and 3.26 goals-against average. Of note, on November 30 versus the Vegas Golden Knights, Stauber turned aside all 29 shots he faced en route to 6-0 road win and the first shutout in Utah history.

Stauber also saw 21 appearances with the AHL affiliated Tucson Roadrunners in which he posted a 12-7-2 showing coupled with an .897 save percentage and 3.14 goals-against average. Stauber then made two more outings in the AHL postseason in which he posted one win with a .935 save percentage and 2.61 goals-against average.

Beyond his time with Tucson, the 26-year-old native of Wayzata, Minn., has totaled 69 appearances over three seasons at the AHL level in which he owns a 36-23-6 career showing with an .899 save percentage, 3.05 goals-against average, and a pair of shutouts.

Stauber originally joined Utah in the 2024 offseason as an unrestricted free agent.

Prior to joining Utah, Stauber saw six showings with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2022-23 in which he went 5-1-0 with a .911 save percentage and 2.81 goals-against average. A graduate of the NCAA’s Providence Friars, Stauber originally signed with the Blackhawks in 2022 as an undrafted free agent. A USHL graduate, Stauber’s resume also counts a Clark Cup championship with the Sioux City Stampede in 2019.

With Stauber signed, he becomes the fifth goaltender under contract with Utah next season joining NHL netminders Karel Vejmelka and Connor Ingram plus fellow farmhands Anson Thornton and Matt Villalta.

For Utah, the club closed out its inaugural season with a 38-31-13 showing and seven points shy of the second wildcard seed in the Western Conference.
