Noah Juulsen Contract Signed with Philadelphia Flyers

Juulsen was drafted 26th overall by the Montréal Canadiens in the 2015 NHL Draft. In his 44 games played with Montréal, Juulsen posted two goals and six assists. In January of 2021, he was put on waivers and claimed by the Florida Panthers

Juulsen’s playing time with the Panthers was minimal, only lasting four games due to health and safety protocols as well as injury. Despite this, he signed a one-year, two-way contract with Florida during the 2021 off-season. Only a couple of days before the start of the 2021–22 regular season, he and Juho Lammikko were moved to the Canucks in exchange for former fifth-overall pick of the 2016 Draft, Olli Juolevi

What It Means

In the 2023–24 season, Juulsen played a career-high 54 games for the Canucks. In this span, he scored one goal and six assists. He was on track to play more than the 35 games he slotted in for this season. However, a season-ending lower body injury prevented him from doing so.

Juulsen’s physical playstyle and willingness to hit opponents was something former Canucks Head Coach Rick Tocchet liked, hence his added minutes. Juulsen is often the first defenceman called-up from Vancouver’s AHL affiliate, the Abbotsford Canucks, when injuries come knocking. His experience in the league has helped him gain a step over some of Vancouver’s younger players.

The Flyers have made a couple of low-key signings. Juulsen will try to get a chance to prove himself on a new team. He reunites with his old coach in Vancouver, which will also help.
