Vancouver Canucks Linked to Top Free Agent Power Forward Still Available on Market

The Vancouver Canucks moved Dakota Joshua earlier in the season, and now they've been urged to land veteran power forward Brett Leason.

This off-season has been a very productive one for the Vancouver Canucks, and after a solid trade deadline as well earlier in 2025, this appears to be a team that's ready to bounce back from a disappointing campaign.

Thus far, the Canucks have added Evander Kane and brought back Brock Boeser, all while moving Dakota Joshua and Arturs Silovs, but there's still work to do if they want to be taken seriously as a contender in the Western Conference.

In their latest piece, Heavy Sports have urged the Canucks to sign 6-foot-5 power forward Brett Leason, who could replace some of the size the team are now missing in their forward group after moving on from Joshua.

Given how late it is in the offseason, there are not too many big-name players left for the taking in free agency. Although this is the case, Leason is easily one of the most intriguing still available for the taking. Thus, if the Canucks want to improve their forward depth, he would be one of the better options for them to consider.

The Calgary native has played in 220 NHL games between Washington and Anaheim thus far, and in that time he's scored 25 goals and 54 points, and combined with the physicality he brings, he would be a solid addition for Vancouver.

Earlier this off-season, it was reported that the 26-year old was being pursued by several KHL clubs, but to this point nothing has come to fruition, and as a cheap, depth option, the Canucks could certainly do a lot worse.
