The National Hockey League's trade deadline has come and gone with the Vancouver Canucks making zero moves on the day, but they did attempt to land a top-six forward.
On Friday morning, the Ottawa Senators and Buffalo Sabres came together to complete a trade swapping former first round picks Dylan Cozens and Josh Norris.
Before the Buffalo Sabres landed Josh Norris from the Senators, a number of teams inquired on his availability, including Patrik Allvin and the Vancouver Canucks.
Following the news of the Buffalo-Ottawa trade this morning, TSN reporter Bruce Garrioch shed some light into other teams that checked in on Josh Norris with Senators General Manager Steve Staios.
Garrioch shared that the Ottawa Senators and Nashville Predators were deep in discussions on a trade that would've seen Ryan O'Reilly land in the nation's capital, but nothing materialized on that front.
He also added that the Vancouver Canucks were among the teams that talked to the Ottawa Senators about a Josh Norris trade.
'Bruce Garrioch on TSN says Sens went far down the road with Nashville in a deal involving Josh Norris and Ryan O'Reilly that fell apart last night, they also talked to Vancouver about a deal involving Josh Norris as well.'
With Patrik Allvin not pulling off any moves on Friday, the Vancouver Canucks will continue their playoff push with their current roster including pending unrestricted free agents Brock Boeser, Pius Suter and Derek Forbort, all of whom could've been dealt by 12 pm PT today.
The Vancouver Canucks will have to wait until this summer to address their need for help down the middle with a number of free agents that could be available to them on July 1st including Sam Bennett, Matt Duchene, Ryan Donato, among others.
