Vegas Golden Knights Acquire Nic Dowd

The Vegas Golden Knights continue to add depth leading up to the 2026 trade deadline. Today, they acquired forward Nic Dowd from the Washington Capitals. The Golden Knights are sending goalie Jesper Vikman, a 2029 second-round pick, and a 2027 third-round pick to the Capitals. The Golden Knights also already acquired winger Cole Smith from the Predators on Tuesday night. Dowd this season in 55 games has 16 points on four goals and 12 assists. He’s a minus-six with a 48.7 faceoff percentage. Vikman this season in 18 games at Henderson is 8-7-4 with a 3.41 goals-against average and an .866 save percentage.

Nic Dowd

The Los Angeles Kings drafted Dowd 198th overall in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut on March 22, 2016. Dowd didnt’t record his first NHL point until the next season, with it coming via a goal on October 20, 2016. He spent three seasons with the Kings, appearing in 91 games. Dowd had 23 points on six goals and 17 assists. He was a -17 with a power-play goal, a game-winning goal, and a 48.3 faceoff percentage. Dowd was traded to the Vancouver Canucks, where he played in 40 games, recording three goals, one on the power-play, as well as a game-winning goal. He was a minus-seven and had a 50.9 faceoff percentage.

He’s spent the last eight seasons with the Capitals, appearing in 506 games, recording 166 points on 79 goals and 87 assists. He has a +40 rating with six shorthanded goals, 15 game-winning goals, and a 51.0 faceoff percentage. In 40 career Stanley Cup Playoff games, he has six points on four goals and two assists. He’s a minus-ten with a game-winning goal, and a 51.4 faceoff percentage.
