The Vegas Golden Knights have their fifth head coach in franchise history. They’ve named Ryan Craig their head coach after he spent the last three seasons with their AHL affiliate, the Henderson Silver Knights. Craig appeared in 711 AHL games, recording 360 points in 172 goals and 188 assists. He also appeared in 198 NHL games. He was a captain in the AHL for nine of his 14 seasons. Craig captained Springfield, Norfolk, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, and Cleveland. He won the Calder Cup as a player in 2015-16 with the Lake Erie Monsters.

After the 2016-17 season, he retired and joined the Vegas Golden Knights as an assistant coach for the 2017-18 season. He was an assistant when Vegas won the Stanley Cup in 2022-23. Following that season, he became the head coach of the Silver Knights. In three seasons, he went 96-95-25. This past season, he made the playoffs for the first time as a head coach. They swept the San Jose Barracuda in the first round but lost to the Colorado Eagles in four games.

The Golden Knights fired Bruce Cassidy on March 29th and had John Tortorella take over behind the bench. Cassidy went 32-26-16 while Tortorella went 7-0-1 to end the regular season. He then led Vegas on a deep playoff run, taking them to the Stanley Cup Finals before they lost to Carolina in six games. Yesterday, the Golden Knights announced that Tortorella would not be returning behind the bench, and 24 hours later, they have their guy.
