Tyler Myers tenure in Vancouver may be ending soon, with a recent trade proposal sending the veteran defenseman to the Detroit Red Wings.
The Vancouver Canucks defense is one of the most intriguing in the NHL, and with captain Quinn Hughes leading the way, this is a group that's always optimistic about their chances.
However, there are some question marks, with the biggest being veteran Tyler Myers, who can be a solid contributor, but at 35-years of age, his spot on the blue line certainly questionable.
Some Canucks fans have been wanting the team to part ways with Myers for years, and in the latest mock trade from Heavy Sports, that's exactly what happens.
Detroit Red Wings acquire: Tyler MyersVancouver Canucks acquire: Justin Holl, Eemil Viro, and a conditional 2028 second-round pick that becomes a first-round pick if Detroit advances to the Eastern Conference Finals before the 2028 NHL Draft.
On paper, this deal seems to be a fair deal between both sides, and given the Red Wings recent struggles, that condition is not likely to convey, meaning they'd take on a veteran in Holl, an intriguing defensive prospect and a second-round pick in 2028.
However, they would be moving Myers final two years for the final year of Justin Holl's contract, carrying a cap hit of $3.4 million, and with the team likely looking for salary cap flexibility, that wouldn't be a bad move at all.
Ultimately, it's unclear if either team would be interested in this move, but given Vancouver and Detroit's desires to shake up their roster after disappointing 2024/25 campaign's, it's certainly one to consider.
