Team Canada won a thrilling 4 Nations Face-Off final over Team USA, and coach Jon Cooper called upon his players to win the game on the bench just before they did.

Despite some chemistry issues earlier in the tournament, Cooper put together Mitch Marner and Connor McDavid together late in the game, and it paid off with the overtime winner.

Video surfaces of Jon Cooper calling McDavid's game winner in overtime

In an incredible video from Team Canada's bench mic'd up, Jon Cooper directed McDavid and Marner to get on the ice, "be selfish" and win the game.

Seeing Cooper behind the bench call out those two players in particular, who were buzzing in the late stages of the game after a slow start, shows the great expertise of Canada's coach — and the belief in McDavid's talent.

Just as Cooper called it, Mitch Marner made a perfect pass to Connor McDavid alone in front, who didn't miss a perfect shot to win the game.

Earlier in the tournament, Mitch Marner had to be bumped down the lineup after appearing to struggle to develop chemistry with McDavid. The two were once seen having a heated conversation on the bench.

Fans can overanalyze some situations, though, and what it now looks like here was Connor McDavid and Mitch Marner trying their absolute best to win for Canada, and it brings out the passion in both great players. After all, Marner and McDavid are longtime competitors and friends.

It was a magical night for Connor McDavid, who has a classic reaction of humility after his incredible goal. It was a moment where McDavid took a major leap in his career, and perhaps he can take these winning habits back to the Oilers.
