The Columbus Blue Jackets drafted Jenner 37th overall in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Before joining the Blue Jackets, he spent three seasons in the OHL with the Oshawa Generals. In 171 games, he had 164 points on 66 goals and 98 assists; he was even in plus/minus.
