On Wednesday night, Washington Capitals goaltender Charlie Lindgren got a little too loose with the puck.
With 12:35 remaining in the third period, Lindgren inched forward to block Lightning center Brayden Point's shot. Lindgren deflected it but flipped the puck back into his own goal, giving the Lightning a 4-3 lead and Point a hat trick.

Lindgren's teammates made up for his gaffe. A little over three minutes later, defenseman John Carlson tied the game at 4-4. Then, right winger Tom Wilson gave Washington a 5-4 lead on a power play, which sealed the win.

Lindgren owes Wilson and Carlson a huge thank you.
The Capitals improved to 15-6-1 following their victory over Tampa Bay. On Friday, they'll host the New York Islanders (8-10-5).
They'll likely need more from Lindgren in Friday's matchup and for the rest of the season. Through his first 10 starts, his save percentage (.901) was tied for 33rd in the NHL. More importantly, he must remember where his own goal is at all times.
