Vegas Golden Knights forward William Karlsson played in his 700th career NHL game. He started the game in the 4-3 victory against the Winnipeg Jets at T-Mobile Arena on Friday.

“Pretty crazy, huh? It’s been a long journey, especially with the Knights,” said Karlsson, who had an assist in the game against the Jets.  “I’m happy I got to play my 700th game in Vegas.”

Karlsson began his career with the Anaheim Ducks during the 2014-15 season. He was traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets a season later.

Karlsson spent the next three seasons as a member of the Blue Jackets, scoring 16 goals and 31 assists. He was left unprotected during Golden Knights’s Expansion Draft in 2017, who selected him with one of their picks as part of an agreement with the Blue Jackets.

That’s when Karlsson’s career took to new limits and where he blossomed into one of the NHL’s top two-way centers. He scored 43 goals that season en route to winning the Lady Byng Trophy for the “most gentlemanly player” in the 2017-18 season.

Karlsson is second in the franchise in points (377) and games played (519).

This season, he has 11 points (four goals and seven assists) for Vegas and is one of the team’s assistant captains.
