Mikko Rantanen's trade from the Colorado Avalanche to the Carolina Hurricanes shocked the NHL world on Saturday, but it didn't take him long to fit in with his new team.
On Tuesday, he logged the primary assist on Andrei Svechnikov's second-period tally to put their team up 2-0 over the New York Rangers, Rantanen's first point as a Hurricane in his second appearance with the club.

Rantanen arrived in Raleigh, North Carolina along with Chicago Blackhawks forward Taylor Hall who was also part of the three-team blockbuster trade.
Colorado received Martin Necas, Jack Drury, a 2025 second-round draft pick and a 2026 fourth-round pick from Carolina while only having to retain half of Rantanen's remaining salary.
The Finnish star is now up to 65 points on the season, which keeps him on pace to top his career high of 105 set in 2022-23.
Hall logged his first point as a Hurricane on Sunday against the New York Islanders, also assisting on a Svechnikov goal. Drury and Necas scored their first goals for Colorado on that same night against the Rangers.
