Watch: Second puck on ice causes mass confusion in Wild-Lightning game

Minnesota Wild forward Marco Rossi thought he had scored a goal against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Friday night to give his team a 2-1 lead.

The only problem — there were two pucks on the ice, and Rossi deposited the wrong puck into the net.

The whole thing was incredibly bizarre and caused some serious initial confusion on the ice.

Have a look.

Rossi's shot off the rush clearly went off the glass behind the net and was the puck that both teams continued chasing — except for Rossi, he took the extra puck and deposited it into the net behind a confused Andrei Vasilevskiy.

It did not count.

Here is a better look at the play.

The second puck was one that had originally been lodged in the protective netting behind the goal and was then jarred loose and fell onto the ice. Rossi gave it a great effort to try to steal a goal there, but there was no way that was ever going to count.
