Watch: Seider rips one-timer past Sorokin in OT to seal fifth consecutive Red Wings victory

There’s no longer room for any doubt: Moritz Seider is for real. The Detroit Red Wings defenseman scored his second career overtime game-winning goal in Saturday’s game against the New York Islanders, clinching a fifth consecutive victory for his team. Seider now ranks fourth on the Red Wings — and 10th among all National Hockey League defensemen — with 17 points (three goals, 14 assists) in 25 games. Two of Seider’s three NHL goals have come in overtime. Pius Suter and Filip Zadina picked up the helpers on Seider’s game-winner, which came at the 3:33 mark of overtime. After collecting 10 of a possible 10 points in their last five contests, the Red Wings now sit fourth in the Atlantic Division — just three points behind the reigning Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning and four points clear of the final Eastern Conference playoff spot.
