What Does Jack Roslovic Bring to the Maple Leafs?

The Toronto Maple Leafs have added Jack Roslovic on a two-year, $8 million contract, bringing in another middle-six forward who’s had to bounce around a bit but has consistently found ways to produce offence. It’s the kind of signing that adds another layer of speed and scoring depth to the lineup.

Roslovic has been a solid scorer wherever he’s been.

Roslovic comes off a productive season with the Oilers, in which he put up 21 goals and 36 points in 69 games, mostly in a middle-six role. He’s hit at least 30 points in six straight seasons now, which tells you that he is a reliable secondary scorer who can chip in offence without needing top-line minutes. He’s not a heavy hitter, and he’s not going to be a shutdown guy. But he can finish plays, move the puck well enough, and keep up with skilled linemates.

One of the things that stands out with Roslovic is his ability to slide around the lineup. He’s played on both wings and at centre throughout his career. That gives the Maple Leafs some flexibility. In a long season where injuries and line shuffling are inevitable, he brings the kind of versatility that has real value. He can play up when needed, or settle into a supporting role without looking out of place.

Roslovic can keep up with the pace of the Maple Leafs’ game.

He also brings a bit of pace to his game. If the Maple Leafs are building a lineup that values speed, Roslovic fits that mould. He’s not overpowering physically, but he can get through the neutral zone quickly and create transition chances, which is something the Leafs tend to rely on.

The bigger question is role. If he clicks, he could push into a consistent top-nine spot and give Toronto another 15–20 goal option in the middle of the lineup. If not, he’s still a useful depth scorer who can move around and keep the offence from drying up beyond the top guys.

In short, Roslovic is the kind of player who won’t define the Maple Leafs’ season, but he could absolutely influence how dangerous their second and third lines look on any given night.
