Eric Comrie has become a fan favourite in Winnipeg, and now the talented goaltender has been offered a spot to compete in the America Manitoba PGA event.
The Winnipeg Jets have been flying in recent years, and while Connor Hellebuyck has been the star in net, Eric Comrie has quietly become one of the most reliable backups in the NHL.
That on top of his quirky personality has made him a fan favourite in Winnipeg, and with other backups moving on in recent times, he's made it clear that he's here to stay in Winnipeg.
However, he's not just a one sport athlete, as a recent report has revealed that Comrie has been offered the chance to compete in the America Manitoba PGA Tour event that is taking place soon, giving him the chance to show off his golfing talent.
The event takes place at Breezy Bend Country Club between August 21-24, with Comrie joining a field of professionals as he looks to make his mark on the golf world the same way he's done in the National Hockey League with the Jets over the past few years.
'I'm very excited to play in this year's Manitoba Open. Golf has become such a passion of mine in recent years and the opportunity to play with professionals who are on the verge of becoming tomorrow's stars is a special opportunity.I'm really looking forward to the challenge of competing in such an important event to the community of Winnipeg and Manitoba. I'd also like to thank the tournament organizers and host committee, along with Breezy Bend, for the invitation.'
Comrie is clearly excited about the opportunity, and given his talents in golf, this is a real chance to show off in a very tough environment as he looks to represent the Jets and the NHL at the big time event.
