The Winnipeg Jets received some bad news today, which is that their captain, Adam Lowry, will have surgery and won't be ready for training camp, out 5-6 months.
The Winnipeg Jets are off to a bad start in the off-season after finding out that captain Adam Lowry will be out for five or six months after he underwent surgery on his hip on Tuesday.
The 32-year-old had surgery earlier this week, and the recovery time means he likely will miss the start of the 2025-26 regular season, which begins in early October.
'His rehabilitation will take 5-6 months. He is expected to make a full recovery.'- Winnipeg Jets statement
Lowry, who played such a critical role both on and off the ice for the Jets , gave the team its most nostalgic moment of the postseason, a double-overtime winner in Game 7 of their first-round victory over the St. Louis Blues.
A third-round pick in the 2011 NHL Draft (67th overall), Lowry has played his whole NHL career with the Jets. He had 16 goals and 18 assists in 73 games this year, and added four goals during the playoffs.
In more than 775 games in his career, Lowry has tallied 121 goals and 152 assists. He is entering the final season of a five-year, $16.25 million contract he signed in 2021, worth an average annual value of $3.25 million.
The Jets are coming off a season with bittersweet feelings. After capturing the Presidents' Trophy with a franchise-high 116 points, they were swept out of the second round of the playoffs by the Dallas Stars in six games.
