Zach Hyman's playoff run was cut short last season by a wrist injury, and now he's provided a positive update ahead of the Oilers 2025/26 campaign.

In the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Edmonton Oilers fell just short of their ultimate goal again, and perhaps, it was the injury to Zach Hyman that would end up costing them their chance against the Panthers.

After posting 5 goals and 11 points in 15 post-season games, Hyman went down with a wrist injury that ended up ruling him out for the rest of the playoffs as the Oilers would fall two games short of their Stanley Cup glory.

Hyman opens up on his return to the ice and his injury recovery

In Calgary, Hyman is currently taking part in the Olympic Orientation Camp for Team Canada, and in an interview, he would open up on the recovery process and how far away he is.

It's good, it's coming along really well. I'm excited to get back out there when I get back to Edmonton.

I had surgery, so I was in a cast for two months and now I'm in this one, but I'm almost out of it which is nice, and can get back to some normalcy soon.

As for when that normalcy will be able to come Hyman is still at the mercy of the medical team looking after his injury.

I feel good but I've got to wait and see what the docs say when I get back. I'm on their timeline, but it shouldn't be too much longer.

Throughout all of these comments, it appears as though the timeline remains the same as it was when he was injury, with all signs currently pointing to him being healthy for the beginning of the 2025/26 campaign.

With the team now relying on Matthew Savoie and Isaac Howard in their top-six, the team will need the experience of Hyman to show through, and after posting 81 goals in the past two regular seasons, he'll need every bit of that production as he gets back to 100% if this team is to be a threat again in 2025/26.
