We started with 12 and are now down to 8.
The first day of Olympic eliminations has taken place, with Italy, Latvia, France and Denmark heading home early after the qualification round. Switzerland, Sweden, Germany, and Czechia won their respective games on Tuesday after everyone had an off day on Monday.
Next up? The quarterfinals, with the eight remaining teams set to get into action on Wednesday.
The teams will be reseeded after the quarterfinal games conclude on Wednesday. The seedings will be determined by each team’s ranking during the tournament, based on points, goal differential, and other tiebreakers. For example, if Canada were eliminated, but the United States remained alive, the Americans would become the new No. 1 seed, with every other remaining team moving up.
