American skiing star Lindsey Vonn revealed in a social media post on Wednesday that she underwent a third surgery since breaking her left leg in a violent crash during the Olympic downhill Sunday and said she will be "ok."

"I had my 3rd surgery today and it was successful," Vonn said in an Instagram post that included a picture of her in a hospital bed with her leg in a brace. "Success today has a completely different meaning than it did a few days ago. I'm making progress and while it is slow, I know I'll be ok.

"Thankful for all of the incredible medical staff, friends, family, who have been by my side and the beautiful outpouring of love and support from people around the world."

Vonn, 41, made a return in December 2024 after a history of knee injuries and was leading the World Cup downhill standings this season with seven podium finishes heading into the Milan Cortina Games. But in a training run just over a week before the Olympics began, she tore the ACL in her left knee during a crash while on a training run.

Even with the ACL injury, Vonn elected to compete in the Olympics but crashed 13 seconds into her downhill run Sunday when her right arm got caught in a gate, sending her airborne. She was airlifted from the mountain with a broken leg.

Despite her disappointment, and the multiple medical procedures she has undergone in a matter of days, Vonn has been keeping an eye on the competition at the Olympics.

"Also, huge congrats to my teammates and all of the Team USA athletes who are out there inspiring me and giving me something to cheer for," Vonn said in her post.
