
With the 2026 Winter Olympics in full swing, fans across the world are as invested as ever.
With sports such as hockey, snowboarding, figure skating, curling, and bobsledding headlining the unique tournament in Italy, NBC revealed in a release that the ratings for the Olympics have been otherworldly.
"NBCUniversal's Presentation of Milan Cortina Olympics Has averaged 20+ Million viewers on 7 of 8 days, After delivering 21.0 million Viewers on Friday," read the statement.
As if that wasn't impressive enough, NBC confirmed there have already been more people (6.3 billion) streaming the 2026 Winter Olympics with about a week remaining, than there were for both the 2018 and 2022 games combined (6.1 billion).
"Led by Peacock, 6.3 billion minutes of Milan Cortina Olympics content have been streamed, topping the last two Winter Games combined (6.1 billion minutes for Beijing and PyeongChang)," read NBC's statement.
With notable events such as the bobsleigh, hockey and curling still remaining on the docket, these numbers will only continue to grow.
As of writing, Norway leads the overall medal count and the number of gold medals won with 20 total medals and 10 golds. Behind them in the medal count is Italy, which has 18 total and six golds, while the United States is in third with 17 total and five golds.
Although not all of these sports are household names, it's clear that people have developed a major affinity for them which bodes well for all involved.
