According to a TMZ Sports story, a pair of Australian rules football teammates who feature for the Glen Waverley Football Club of the Eastern Football Netball League are facing discipline following a wager made "during a day of heavy drinking" back on Aug. 14.
The bet allegedly involved the loser performing a sex act on the winner in the middle of a bar that was filled with patrons. Somebody filmed the incident in question, and the footage ultimately went viral and caught the attention of the club.
The players have not yet been publicly identified.
"The Club is taking immediate action to address the serious breach of our culture and values that has occurred within this incident," club officials said in a statement shared by TMZ. "The individuals involved, along with the broader playing group will be both disciplined and educated and if need be, counselled in the type of conduct expected by members of our Club, along with the physical and emotional impact this has had on the families involved, club members, players and the wider community."
The team also requested "that the well-being of those involved be respected as they deal with the impact from the incident."
Per Sam McPhee of the Daily Mail Australia, Glen Waverley Football Club wrapped up their season and were relegated to Division 4. The players involved are also accused of damaging property at the bar.
Between this and what reportedly occurred at a recent MLB game involving the Seattle Mariners and Oakland Athletics, it seems the sports world could use the upcoming Labor Day holiday weekend to reset itself ahead of the fall months.
