The United States men's basketball team continues its quest for a gold medal on Wednesday afternoon in a rematch against South Sudan. Team USA nearly lost to South Sudan in an exhibition game leading up to the Paris Olympics, but it should have no problem taking care of business as 28.5-point favorites this time around.
We have no interest in betting that massive spread, so let's try a different route and craft a same-game parlay for Team USA's next test.
A Red, White and Blue SGP for USA-South Sudan
Leg 1: Joel Embiid under 11.5 points
Embiid is one of the most dominant scorers on the planet, but his slow-paced isolation game doesn't fit Team USA's ideal style of play. Head coach Steve Kerr finally came to that realization against Serbia, as he pulled Embiid out of the game early in the first quarter and played him only 11 minutes. The Philadelphia 76ers star may not even start in this matchup, so we like his chances of going under his points prop.
Leg 2: Anthony Davis to record a double-double
This is directly correlated to our Embiid fade. Fewer minutes for Embiid will lead to increased minutes for Davis, who's proven to be a much better fit with this roster. Davis came off the bench and played 19 minutes against Serbia, and that number should be even higher on Wednesday considering his size advantage against South Sudan. The big man scored 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the first matchup against South Sudan, and Kerr should lean on him heavily in the rematch.
Leg 3: Anthony Edwards 2+ made threes
It's hard to predict shooting volume with Team USA due to the wealth of talent on the roster, but you can guarantee Edwards is going to get his shots up. The Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star exudes confidence on the court, especially when he's donning the Red, White and Blue. Edwards made two three-pointers against Serbia and attempted seven threes in the first matchup against South Sudan. He'll come off the bench ready to fire from deep.
