Let's finish NFL Week 1 on a +1690 SGP for 'Monday Night Football'

After a glorious Sunday of non-stop NFL action, Week 1 will come to a close on Monday night when Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets take on Brock Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers. There's no better way to sweat out a primetime game than to fire a juicy same-game parlay, so let's cook up a winner for "Monday Night Football."

'MNF' SGP

Leg 1: First half under 21.5

It's hard to imagine the Jets coming out hot considering Rodgers will be (hopefully) playing his first full football game in 20 months. Rodgers and the rest of the offensive starters didn't suit up for preseason, either, so expect a clunky start from this unit on the road. New York's defense is still an elite group with plenty of experience playing together, so they should be able to keep the 49ers at bay while the offense works out the kinks.

Leg 2: Aaron Rodgers under 235.5 passing yards

As we just mentioned, Rodgers hasn't played a full NFL game in nearly two years. He's now 40 years old, coming off a major injury and will be playing essentially his first game with Breece Hall, Garrett Wilson and company. This experiment could work out in the long run, but chances are it won't click right away.

With many teams deciding to rest their offensive starters in the preseason, passing stats were way down across the league in Week 1. Only three of the 24 starting quarterbacks we watched on Sunday went over this line, and we don't expect Rodgers to add his name to that list.

Leg 3: Christian McCaffrey anytime touchdown

McCaffrey's touchdown prop is almost unbettable by itself, but it works just fine in a same-game parlay. Including the playoffs, McCaffrey scored at least one touchdown in 16 of the 19 games he played last season. He's the surest bet in the NFL to find the end zone every week.

Leg 4: Breece Hall anytime touchdown

The Jets were a one-dimensional offense last year thanks to the atrocious quarterback play, but Hall still scored at least one touchdown in four of his last five games and three straight to close out the season. Now that New York has a capable passing offense, Hall should have even more room to run. The star running back is one of the best red-zone weapons in the NFL, and his team will actually be able to reach the red zone on Monday night.

Put it all together, and we get a juicy +1690 SGP with our good friends at FanDuel. Let's cash!

In the news ...

Lions win overtime thriller to cap off wild Week 1 — Week 1 of the NFL season never disappoints. On Sunday, we saw surprising upsets with the New England Patriots knocking off the Cincinnati Bengals and the Pittsburgh Steelers taking down the Atlanta Falcons. We saw dominating performances with the New Orleans Saints blowing out the Carolina Panthers, the Dallas Cowboys rolling the Cleveland Browns and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers handling the Washington Commanders. We saw thrillers with the Houston Texans holding off the Indianapolis Colts, the Buffalo Bills surviving against the Arizona Cardinals and the Detroit Lions knocking off the Los Angeles Rams in overtime. Welcome back, football. After all that, the Kansas City Chiefs are still favored to win the Super Bowl at +475.

Tyreek Hill detained by police on his way to the game, promptly torches the Jaguars — Hill did his best Scottie Scheffler impression on Sunday afternoon. On his way to Hard Rock Stadium, the star wide receiver was handcuffed and placed face down on the ground by police after he was pulled over for allegedly speeding and reckless driving. Hill still made it to the stadium in time for kickoff, and he put up 130 receiving yards and a touchdown to lead the Miami Dolphins to a 20-17 win against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Hill is the +550 favorite to win Offensive Player of the Year.

Puka Nacua, David Njoku, Jake Ferguson go down with injuries — As fun as Week 1 is, it always comes with a few setbacks. Nacua injured his knee on Sunday Night Football and left the field on a cart, but no word yet on the severity. Njoku went down in Sunday's loss to the Cowboys, and he's feared to have suffered a high-ankle sprain. In the same game, Ferguson left with a knee injury, but he appears to have avoided a torn ACL. With Nacua banged up, Cooper Kupp is +1400 to lead the NFL in receiving yards this year.

Quick Picks

1 Paul Skenes to record a win - no

This isn't an easy matchup for Skenes. The Miami Marlins lead MLB in batting average and OPS and rank third in wRC+ against righties over the last two weeks, while the Pittsburgh Pirates have been ice cold at the plate. The Pirates are also easing up on Skenes's usage, so he likely won't go more than 5.0 innings in this one.

Latest Odds:  -120
2 Salvador Perez over 1.5 hits + runs + RBIs

Perez isn't swinging the bat well right now, but this is a great matchup for him to get back on track. In 24 career plate appearances against Carlos Rodon, Perez is batting .435 and slugging .739 with two home runs.

Latest Odds:  -110
3 Deebo Samuel over 60.5 rushing + receiving yards

We're not done with "Monday Night Football" just yet. With Brandon Aiyuk missing most of training camp and McCaffrey still nursing a calf injury, we expect Samuel to have a huge role for the 49ers in Week 1. He can clear this line in only a few touches with his explosiveness.

Latest Odds:  -115
4 Chicago Cubs @ Los Angeles Dodgers

Kyle Hendricks and Walker Buehler have been two of the worst starting pitchers in MLB this season, and these are two of the hottest lineups in the league. The Dodgers and Cubs rank second and third, respectively, in wRC+ over the last 20 days. We'll take the over 9.5.
Monday, 10:10 PM Eastern SPREAD MONEY LINE OVER / UNDER
Cubs
+1.5 (-122) +160 > 9.5 (-122)
Dodgers
-1.5 (+110) -188 < 9.5 (-112)
5 Kyle Hendricks over 5.5 hits allowed

Hendricks ranks in the third percentile in xBA (.291) and the sixth percentile in whiff rate (18.8 percent), which isn't a great combo when going up against the Dodgers. In 117 combined plate appearances against Hendricks, current Dodgers hitters have a .305 xBA and a .368 xwOBA.
