Infamous Chiefs superfan has prison sentence extended

A well-known Kansas City Chiefs superfan was sentenced to more prison time on Monday over a string of bank robberies that he committed.

Xaviar Babudar, who is known to fans in Kansas City and online as "Chiefsaholic," was sentenced in an Oklahoma courtroom on Monday to 32 years in prison. Babudar, 30, had previously been sentenced to 17 1/2 years in federal prison for a series of bank robberies in seven states that took place in 2022 and 2023.

The Tulsa County district attorney's office had been seeking a life sentence for Babudar. His new sentence is concurrent, meaning he will serve an additional 14 1/2 years.

"It was offensive to me that a serial robber could victimize as many hardworking Americans as this guy did all across the country and only receive 17½ years from the federal government," Tulsa County District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler said in court on Monday, via ESPN's Elizabeth Merrill and David Purdum.

"My preference was for him to serve the rest of his life in prison. He caught another break today, but at least he's going to be serving some additional time, and my thoughts are with the victims who continue to be tormented by his violence."

Babudar initially pleaded not guilty to 19 charges related to his spree of bank robberies, including armed robbery, bank theft, money laundering and transporting stolen property. He has since pleaded guilty to several charges, including robbery with a firearm, assault while masked or disguised and removing an electronic monitoring device.

The first time Babudar was arrested was after a robbery in December 2022, when he pointed a black CO2 pistol at a bank teller and stole $150,000 in cash. Babudar was arrested shortly after the robbery and released on bond in February 2023.

Babudar won $100,000 on two wagers involving the Chiefs a month later, removed his GPS monitor and went on the run.

After he was caught following a string of robberies in July 2023, Babudar was connected to numerous other incidents.

Babudar gained a large following on social media for attending Chiefs games wearing a gray wolf suit. He often posed for photos with fans and led cheers at Arrowhead Stadium.
