Eagles' skid makes Cowboys owner Jerry Jones feel like he can soar

The Philadelphia Eagles have given the Dallas Cowboys yet another break during the most crucial stretch of the season.

Philadelphia lost to the Los Angeles Chargers 22-19 on "Monday Night Football" after starting quarterback Jalen Hurts threw a season-high four interceptions. The Eagles (8-5) certainly aren't soaring after losing three straight games. But watching them plummet has made Cowboys owner Jerry Jones feel like he can.

Jerry Jones discusses Cowboys' playoff chances amid Eagles' skid

"Real excited. They didn't even put any fuel in the plane. I flew up here on my own," Jones said Tuesday from New York during an interview with KRLD-FM in Dallas. "We sure got a shot at this thing."

The Cowboys sure do have a chance at winning the division and making the playoffs, but it remains slim. Per The Athletic, Dallas has an 11% chance of making the postseason and an 8% chance of winning the NFC East.

To do either, the Cowboys (6-6-1) may need to win out, which is doable given their remaining schedule. According to Tankathon, Dallas has the fifth-easiest remaining schedule in the league. The team only faces one squad with a winning record for the rest of the season, the Chargers (9-4) at home in Week 16.

The Eagles, though, also have an easy schedule in the coming weeks. Per Tankathon, they have the third-easiest remaining schedule in the league.

In Week 15, the Eagles host the Las Vegas Raiders (2-11), which may offer them the perfect opportunity to get back on track. The Raiders defense has continued to flounder over the team's past four games, allowing 28 points per contest. That could help Hurts get back in the groove after his disappointing "MNF" performance.

The Eagles remain at risk of another late-season collapse. In 2023, they started 10-1 but lost five of their last six regular-season games.

If Dallas can continue to stack wins, that'll keep them alive in the playoff hunt, and it'll put more pressure on the Eagles. With the way Philadelphia has played in recent weeks, there's a decent chance it could crack under it. If that happens, Jones will continue to feel like he can fly.
