Jakobi Meyers has changed Jaguars season, and now they paid him

Things have changed rapidly for Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Jakobi Meyers. It was only two months ago that he was a pending unrestricted free agent, playing through a lost season with the Las Vegas Raiders after requesting a trade away from the team in the preseason.

They finally granted his trade wish before the NFL trade deadline, sending him to the Jacksonville Jaguars for a 2026 fourth-round pick and a 2026 sixth-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Since joining his new team he has helped completely transform their offense, helped turn them into a contender in the AFC and on Thursday he landed a lucrative new contract extension.

Jaguars re-sign Jakobi Meyers to three-year contract extension

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, it will be a three-year, $60 million contract extension for Meyers, including $40 million guarantees.

The Jaguars hoped that Meyers could give their wide receiver room an upgrade. He has not only upgraded the position, he has helped completely change the offense.

Since joining the Jaguars the team has gone 5-1, while Meyers has 27 catches on 38 targets for 355 yards and three touchdowns.

He has been their most productive wide receiver since the trade and one of the most impactful players to get moved in-season.

It has also had a profound impact on the offense as a whole. Prior to acquiring Meyers the Jaguars were 5-3 and averaging just 22 points per game. Since the trade they are 5-1 and scoring 33 points per game, climbing to the top of the AFC South. It has jump-started the offense, it has given quarterback Trevor Lawrence new life and now the Jaguars look to be playing their best football at the right time of year. Given how wide open the AFC is they can not be counted out.

Adding Meyers has been a huge part of that.
