Jalen Duren and the Detroit Pistons were on the road Monday night to face the Charlotte Hornets. Midway through the third quarter, Charlotte's Moussa Diabate fouled Duren.
It had been a physical game up to that point, and it quickly got out of hand. Duren and Diabate were involved in a scuffle where punches were thrown. Four players, two from each team, were ejected as a result of Monday night's fight.
On Wednesday morning, NBA insider Chris Haynes reported that Duren would be eligible for the All-Star Game on Sunday if given a multi-game suspension. Shortly after, the league office announced Duren would serve a two-game suspension.
Monday's altercation between the Pistons and Hornets is one the league is taking seriously. It took until Wednesday morning for the NBA to finally announce suspensions from the fight.
Duren was the least penalized of the four players ejected on Monday. Duren will serve a two-game suspension. Diabate and the Hornets' Miles Bridges were both suspended for four games.
The Pistons' Isaiah Stewart had the heftiest suspension, a total of seven games. NBA Communications announced, "The length of Stewart's suspension is based in part on his repeated history in unsportsmanlike acts."

Not competing in the All-Star Game would have been devastating for Duren. The 22-year-old is having a career-best season and earned his first All-Star selection in 2025-26. Luckily, Duren has nothing to worry about and is eligible to play this Sunday.

In his fourth professional season, Duren is averaging a career-high 17.7 points per game. Additionally, he's at 10.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists in his 44 starts. Duren will miss two regular-season games for the Pistons. That includes Wednesday vs. the Raptors and Feb. 19 vs. the Knicks.
