If Alex Golesh wants to quickly move the Auburn Tigers away from the stench of the Hugh Freeze and Bryan Harsin eras, he'll have to start on the recruiting trail and in the transfer portal.
The Tigers got good news on the latter front on Thursday, and it's the type of news that can help a new SEC head coach like Golesh really start building momentum before he even coaches a snap.
On Thursday, it was announced that Donivan Moore, a 2027 4-star defensive lineman from Hueytown, Alabama, had committed to Auburn.
This is huge news for Golesh and the Tigers because Moore is ranked as the No. 1 recruit from the state, according to the 247Sports Composite.
He has over 20 offers from all over the country and even boasts an offer from the Alabama Crimson Tide, but Moore revealed that he instantly liked the vibes that Golesh brought to The Plains and on the recruiting trail.

"What made Auburn right for me was the connection,” Moore told Steve Wiltfong of Rivals. “Once Coach Golesh got there, I felt a different vibe and things were going the right way. I feel like it’s going to be a very special year. He’s going to get the program back to where it needs to be and how it used to be."
Ole Miss, Texas, Ohio State, LSU and Alabama were also in the running for Moore's commitment. He's visited Auburn multiple times, though, and you can tell he's enamored by everything the university has to offer, even outside of football.
“The fanbase, school and community, everything about Auburn. That place is magical," he said. "Once you step foot on that campus and look around that campus and how everybody treats you, you never want to leave.”
In-state recruiting is vital, especially at a school like Auburn that not only has to deal with the rest of the SEC coming into the state, but has to recruit directly against the Crimson Tide.
As such, this is a massive win for the Tigers. Moore is ranked as the No. 5 defensive lineman in the 2027 class and a Top 75 recruit nationally.
