Breece Hall sends message to critics doubting 2025 Jets

Running back Breece Hall is aware that some believe the New York Jets are in the early days of a roster reset with new general manager Darren Mougey and first-year head coach Aaron Glenn guiding the franchise into the 2025 season.

Via recent comments shared by Susanna Weir of the Jets' website, Hall sent a message to those who are predicting that Gang Green won't be part of playoff conversations come December.

"I think people think the new coaching staff and new GM means a rebuild, but we have a lot of really good players on the roster, so we're trying to win now," Hall explained. "And I think a lot of people from the outside are going to take that for granted and not realize that we actually have a team."

Per Caroline Hendershot of the Jets' website, defensive lineman Quinnen Williams, pass-rusher Will McDonald, cornerback Ahmad "Sauce" Gardner and wide receiver Garrett Wilson are all running it back with the club for another season after they were selected as alternates for the 2025 Pro Bowl Games despite the team's 5-12 record. As analysts such as ESPN's Aaron Schatz have noted, Gardner and Wilson could put pen to paper on lucrative contract extensions at any time this summer.

The most noteworthy decision made by the new Jets regime this offseason was moving on from veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers and replacing him with 26-year-old Justin Fields. Along with Hall and Fields, second-year running backs Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis are expected to have significant roles in New York's rushing attack under new offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand.

"I think our ceiling is very high," Hall said about sharing touches with Allen and Davis. "…We have really good, healthy competition, and we're all pushing each other to get better every day. It's going to be fun."

Hall could soon find himself having "fun" as part of a different team, as he's in the final year of his contract and reportedly "will be a prime candidate to be dealt" ahead of the Nov. 4 trade deadline if the Jets have a losing record around Halloween. As of Tuesday afternoon, DraftKings Sportsbook had the Jets as +475 betting underdogs to qualify for the playoffs this season.

Hall added during his comments that he plans "to go out there every weekend and prove that I deserve to be out there." He may spend parts of October auditioning for other clubs if he's wrong about the 2025 Jets being a win-now team.
