The 'Most points in Game 1 of an NBA Finals' quiz

If Oklahoma City Thunder fans just checked the box score and team stats for Game 1 of the 2025 NBA Finals, they’d probably think they were up 1-0 in the series. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 38 points to Tyrese Haliburton’s 14, OKC won the turnover battle 25-7 and had a 15-point lead in the fourth quarter.

But Haliburton and the Indiana Pacers have been absurdly clutch throughout this playoff run, and that showed up once again with Haliburton knocking down a go-ahead jump-shot with less than a second left on the clock to give the Pacers their only lead of the game and the win.

Which brings us to today’s quiz. Despite the loss the 2024-25 MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander showed up in his first career NBA Finals game, scoring the third-most points in an NBA Finals debut per Statmuse. With that being said, can you name every player with 30 points in Game 1 of an NBA Finals since the NBA/ABA merger can you name in five minutes?

Good luck!
