While most experts are busy dismissing the Boston Celtics' chances to contend this season, Jaylen Brown is busy ignoring that noise and making history.
Even though Boston has endured an up-and-down start to the season — it's 4-5 after a 136-107 win over the Washington Wizards — Brown reached a level no other Celtics player has ever been before on Wednesday night.
The 2024 NBA Finals MVP became the first Celtics player to ever record 35 points, five rebounds and five assists in only 25 minutes. Brown also was extremely efficient, connecting on 13 of 21 shots from the field. He also picked up a steal and was 2-of-4 from long range.
He didn't need to play the whole game for Boston to beat the 1-7 Wizards, but when Brown was out on the floor, he was on a historic level.

Brown, a four-time All-Star who has often been cast in the shadow of Jayson Tatum, has been able to put his true basketball brilliance on display all season, carrying the scoring load as Tatum recovers from a torn Achilles tendon. Through nine games, Brown has reached or surpassed 30 points five times and scored 41 in a loss to Detroit on Oct. 26.
The 29-year-old entered his historic night already averaging 26.8 points, 4.4 boards and 4.3 assists per game.
Despite a franchise lineage that includes legendary names like Bill Russell and Larry Bird and more modern Hall of Famers like Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett, Brown continues find his own path to going down as a Celtics all-time great.
