Packers president Mark Murphy calls Aaron Rodgers a 'complicated fella'

The rift between Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers doesn't appear to be getting any better.

While addressing the franchise's relationship with Rodgers during an event at Lambeau Field on Thursday, Packers president Mark Murphy referenced Rodgers as a "complicated fella."

"I'm often reminded though ... of Ted Thompson, as most of you know, just a great general manager, passed away (earlier this year)," Murphy said, according to NBC 26 in Green Bay (h/t USA Today). "(Thompson) often talked about Aaron, that he's a ... and it wasn't just Aaron, a lot of different players. He would say, 'He's a complicated fella.' So, I'll just say that."

Rodgers is reportedly unhappy and wants out of Green Bay. One report says the reigning NFL MVP will not return to the Packers unless general manager Brian Gutekunst is fired.

Rodgers' unhappiness with the Packers began when Gutekunst drafted his potential heir, Jordan Love. The veteran signal-caller has no problem with Love, but he reportedly didn't like how the organization handled the situation.

Earlier this month, Murphy described the situation with Rodgers as one that has divided the fan base.

The 37-year-old has not participated in Green Bay's offseason program and reportedly has no intention of doing so.
