Brooks Koepka 'just wanted to spank' rival Bryson DeChambeau in 'The Match'

Brooks Koepka dominated his rival Bryson DeChambeau in "The Match" on Friday and felt pretty good about his victory afterwards.

"It was fun to come out here and settle this," Koepka said after the rout, via CNN. "I'm not going to lie. I just wanted to spank him."

The battle between Koepka and DeChambeau was scheduled for 12 holes at Wynn Golf Club in Las Vegas, but DeChambeau conceded on the ninth hole after failing to win any of the first eight. Koepka won four holes and tied DeChambeau with pars on the other four.

It was the fifth edition of "The Match" that began in 2018 with a one-on-one competition between Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson. While the last three years saw professional golfers paired with athletes like Tom Brady and Peyton Manning, the annual match play event returned to its roots by pitting Koepka against DeChambeau.

A rivalry has brewed between the pair after Koepka first expressed frustration in January 2019 over DeChambeau's slow and deliberate play. The two exchanged barbs and dirty looks for more than two years before the one-on-one grudge match was scheduled for November 2021.
