Thunder rookie SG Josh Giddey placed in NBA's COVID-19 protocols

Oklahoma City Thunder rookie Josh Giddey is among the newest additions to the group of more than 100 NBA players who have spent time in the league's COVID-19 protocol.

The Australian was picked sixth overall by the Thunder in the 2021 NBA Draft and has played in 30 of the team's 32 games this season, starting in all of his appearances. Giddey is averaging 10.8 points, 7.1 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 30.0 minutes per contest while posting a .388/.245/.651 shooting line.

After grabbing 10 rebounds in his NBA debut and scoring a career-high 19 points in his third contest in October, the shooting guard secured his first career double-double with 18 points and 10 assists on Oct. 27. Giddey posted back-to-back double-doubles on Nov. 17 and Nov. 19 as a part of a stretch that helped earn him the Rookie of the Month award in November.

The Thunder currently have the fifth-worst record in the NBA at 12-20.
