Chiefs fans donate to Buffalo children's hospital in tribute to Bills QB Josh Allen

Buffalo Bills fans have created a habit over the last several seasons of giving back to other teams' charities following big victories. After the Bills were defeated by the Kansas City Chiefs in last weekend's wild AFC divisional playoff game, Chiefs fans chose to return the favor.

Starting on Tuesday, Chiefs fans began sending donations in $13 dollar increments to Oishei Children's Hospital in Buffalo, which has a significant connection with Bills quarterback Josh Allen.

The number "13" likely could give Bills fans fits right now, given that's how many seconds it took for the Chiefs to tie up Sunday's game before going on to win in overtime and knock Buffalo out of the playoffs. However, the hospital reported Wednesday the donations brought in $178,000 within a day.

A Chiefs fan page explained the original idea was to donate to Patrick Mahomes' charity, 15 and the Mahomies Foundation, but changed course after speaking with a Bills fan who said donations would've gone to Mahomes' charity if Buffalo had won instead.

The Chiefs will host the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship Game this Sunday.
