Chris Paul could return for Suns as soon as Wednesday?

Nothing is set in stone just yet, but it's looking like Chris Paul could return to the court this week.

The 36-year-old point guard, who sustained a thumb injury just before the All-Star break, took part in pregame warmups on Sunday prior to his team squaring off against the Sacramento Kings. While Paul wasn't slated to return until roughly April 3 and head coach Monty Williams told the media Sunday there is still no timetable in place, sources close to the team say Paul could return as soon as Wednesday against the Minnesota Timberwolves, The Athletic's Sam Amick noted.

The Suns are 10-4 since Paul was sidelined and have built a healthy lead in the Western Conference standings. However, it isn't lost on Williams how nice it will be to have Paul back in the fold.

"I do think those opportunities allow for you to grow as a team,” Williams said, via The Arizona Republic. “Helps me grow as a coach, trying different things to see if they work. We’d much rather get him back sooner rather than later because I don’t want to learn forever. I’d rather have him out there."

Paul, who attended All-Star weekend with his injured hand heavily bandaged, said at the time he would return to the court as soon as he could.

"I always want to play," he said on February 19. "When I felt that in my hand, I was mad for all types of reasons. Obviously, we're not going to (rush it). I'm going to try to heal as fast as physically possible. The second I'm able to play, I guarantee you I will be playing."

The 17-season veteran and 12-time All-Star was averaging 14.9 points and 10.7 assists on the season prior to being injured.
