Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid isn't holding a grudge with his former teammate Ben Simmons, but he's glad the discord between Simmons and the team was resolved this season.
Simmons requested a trade during the offseason, beginning a lengthy, tense saga that eventually ended with the point guard getting traded to the Brooklyn Nets in a February deal that sent James Harden to Philadelphia.
"It was a tough situation to navigate and go through," Embiid told The Athletic's Sam Amick. "Even to this day, I don't have any hard feelings towards everything that happened. But being in my position, having to answer questions about that whole thing every single day, it was kind of draining. And I'm sure it was draining for my teammates."
Shortly after the trade, Embiid told NBA Today that he spoke to Simmons "a week or two" before the trade deadline and said he made a few attempts to get the point guard to return to action with the 76ers.
“I did a lot of chasing around trying to get him back and try to make him feel comfortable again. It was tough. I didn’t care anymore.”

The 76ers are 10-4 this season with Harden in the lineup and the team is currently tied for third in the Eastern Conference with a 46-28 record. Philadelphia is just a half game behind the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat for first.
