The 2025 NFL season got off to an insane start on Thursday night when Philadelphia Eagles superstar defensive lineman Jalen Carter was ejected six seconds into the opening game for spitting on Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.
Carter clearly spit on Prescott, but new information unfolded later in the night that showed what might have prompted him to do that.
Yes, there was a second spitter, and it was Prescott himself.
As the two teams were huddled prior to the first snap of the game, NBC's broadcast showed video of Prescott spitting at the Eagles huddle, which is what prompted Carter to confront him and spit back.

A couple of things need to kept in mind here.
The first is that Prescott only spit in the direction of the Eagles huddle and not directly at any one individual player, and certainly not on any individual player. The second is that even with that, Carter needs to have some discipline and restraint to not spit on the starting quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys, in the season opener, directly in front of an official who is watching the entire thing unfold.
That's the type of thing that is going to result in an ejection every single time. Prescott clearly instigated things, but Carter can't let something like that get under his skin that much or else every opponent on the Eagles' schedule will try to push his buttons.
