NC State star officially declares for 2023 NBA Draft

NC State sophomore guard Terquavion Smith has decided to make the jump to the next level.

The 6-foot-4, 165-pound Greenville, NC, native told ESPN that he's officially declaring for the 2023 NBA Draft.

"I'm forgoing my college eligibility and going all the way in," Smith said. "I'm thankful for everything the NC State coaching staff and fans have done for me. This is the right decision for me to take care of my family."

As far as taking care of his family is concerned, Smith is certainly putting himself in a good position.

Both ESPN and Sports Illustrated say that Smith is a likely first-round pick. He's a long, lanky scorer with great athleticism and the ability to shoot from anywhere on the court. He's quick and athletic enough to drive to the rim and make tough shots look easy in the lane, but he also has deep range from beyond the three-point line.

Any prospect who play like this on both sides of the floor is going to get a ton of NBA Draft buzz:

Smith averaged 17.9 points, 4.1 assists, and 3.6 rebounds this past season for NC State.
