University of Georgia retiring winningest mascot in school's history

Uga X, the mascot of the Georgia Bulldogs football team, was just two and a half years old when he took over the job in 2015.

Ninety-one wins, 55 draft picks, two College Football Playoff National Championship titles and two SEC championships later, Uga X, also known as Que, is retiring from his role and 10-month-old Boom will take over mascot duties starting with Saturday’s annual G-Day Red vs. Black spring game.

A collaring ceremony will be held for Boom—who will be known as Uga XI going forward—around 3:50 p.m. near the 20-yard line prior to the game.

Georgia compiled a 91-18 record with victories in the Orange, Peach, Rose and Sugar Bowls during Uga X’s tenure. He’s one of two Bulldogs mascots to win at least one national championship, and he has more Bowl wins than any other mascot in school history.

Uga X passed Uga VI, who had a record of 87-27, as the winningest mascot in school history, and his 83.4 winning percentage is also the best among UGA mascots, topping Uga VI’s 76.3 percent. The two are the only mascots in program history to win 80 or more games.
