Jeff Bezos, worth billions, won't get in a bidding war over Commanders

The Washington Commanders are going to be sold. Whether Dan Snyder wants that to be a reality or not is moot. The only questions at this point are who is going to end up owning the franchise, and how much is that person (or group of persons) going to pay?

There are several interested parties and for some time, it was rumored that billionaire Jeff Bezos — who founded Amazon — was among the very elite and exclusive group of extremely rich people interested in buying the NFL franchise.

According to ESPN, though, Bezos is not going to be submitting a bid for the Commanders.

"When asked if Bezos was going to make a bid, a source close to Bezos told ESPN, 'No he's not,' " John Keim wrote.

That's one potential buyer out of the pool, but there are still at least two serious bidders in line to be the next owner of the Commanders. A group led by mega-owner Josh Harris, which includes NBA Hall of Famer Magic Johnson, has submitted about reportedly worth around $6B, per ESPN. Harris already owns the Philadelphia 76ers and the New Jersey Devils.

Canadian billionaire Steve Apostolopoulos has also reportedly made a bid.

While Bezos certainly has the money to get into a bidding war with these respective parties — he's worth $120.9B, according to Forbes — he apparently either feels an NFL franchise isn't worth it, or he's too focused on getting you your latest late-night Amazon order or trying to figure out how to get back to space
