Watch: Zion Williamson takes flight on back-to-back dunks in Pelicans return

Zion Williamson made his presence felt late in the first half of the Pelicans season opener against the Grizzlies, connecting on back-to-back dunks during a sequence that gave New Orleans a 56-47 lead.

Those two dunks were Williamson's first field goals of the half, although he also made it to the free throw line twice, where he went 3-of-4. He also had an excellent assist on a dish to C.J. McCollum for three.

It's no secret the Pelicans will go as far as Williamson can take them. The core reached its ceiling without Williamson two years ago when it reached the playoffs as the No. 8 seed and lost in the first round in six games.

New Orleans was 23-13 last season when it lost Williamson for the year to a hamstring injury on Jan. 2 against the 76ers. During the team's last 46 games, it went 19-27, eventually losing in the play-in tournament to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

In 29 games last season, Williamson averaged 26 points, seven rebounds and 4.6 assists while shooting 60.8% from the field.

With a healthy Williamson, the Pelicans can pick up where they left off last January as a legitimate threat for a top-four seed in the Western Conference.

He looked 100% early against the Grizzlies. The question, of course, is if he can sustain his play for an entire season.

At this point, that's the only question about Williamson's game.
