Week 11 NFC East predictions: Eagles get another shot at champion Chiefs

The Commanders and Eagles are out for revenge in Week 11 while the Giants look to be out of ideas.

New York Giants (2-8) at Washington Commanders (4-6):   New York's last win came in Week 7 against the Commanders. The Giants have lost last next three games by a combined score of 92-33. Giants’ players showed more fight on the sidelines than the field against the Cowboys last week and won’t give the Commanders any problems with the NFL’s worst offense.

Washington wasted three touchdowns from quarterback Sam Howell and 119 receiving yards from running back Brian Robinson Jr. in a three-point loss to the Seahawks last week. Ron Rivera’s team has been better than expected this year but really need this win with Dallas and Miami up next.

Look for Howell, the league’s leading passer, to avenge the Giants loss and keep Washington’s playoff hopes alive for one more week

PREDICTION: Commanders 31-10

Dallas Cowboys (6-3) at Carolina Panthers (1-8): After topping the Giants on Sunday, the Cowboys look to cruise past a Carolina team with just one victory in 2023.

So far, rookie quarterback Bryce Young and new coach Frank Reich have done little to change the Panthers' fortunes. Carolina has allowed 26.9 points per game while scoring 16 through the first nine games.

By contrast, only Miami scores more points than the Cowboys and only three teams average more yards per game (379.1). Dallas owns a 10-3 record against Carolina and haven’t lost to the Panthers since the opening game of 2018.

Despite their record, Carolina’s pass defense has been good this year, giving up the fifth-fewest yards through the air (1,588). Their run defense has been much worse, allowing the seventh-most yards per game (131.9). Look for Dallas to give Dak Prescott’s arm a rest and split carries between running backs Tony Pollard and Rico Dowdle in what should be another lopsided victory.

PREDICTION: Dallas 31-17

Philadelphia Eagles (8-1) at Kansas City Chiefs (7-2)

Despite having the league’s best record, the Eagles enter Arrowhead Stadium as underdogs against the Chiefs. Don’t think that’s gone unnoticed and don’t think Philadelphia has forgotten how close it came to beating Kansas City in Super Bowl LVII.

Monday’s night’s game should be the best of the week with both teams rested and ready after a Week 10 bye. The break couldn’t have come at a better time for Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, who’s been nursing a knee injury for several weeks. He said as much after a 28-23 victory over the Cowboys in Week 9.

He’ll need to be on top of his game against a Chiefs defense that’s allowed just 143 points this season, fewest in the NFL. On the other hand, Kansas City’s offense hasn’t been playing up to its usual standards.

The Chiefs are averaging 44.9 less yards and 6.1 fewer points per game than they did in 2022. Tight end Travis Kelce continues to be the team’s primary playmaker, but the Dolphins held him to three catches for 14 yards.

Look for Philadelphia to study that tape, run the ball and have their revenge in a hard-fought, low scoring game.

PREDICTION: Philadelphia 17-10
