Both the Mavericks and Timberwolves have high-scoring guards and dangerous outside shooting. Dallas made the third-most three-pointers in the NBA this season while Minnesota had the third-best three-point percentage. But when it came to the third quarter, both teams played above the rim.

Dallas fed center Daniel Gafford inside to open the second half, starting their scoring with two alley-oops and a layup. Gafford had eight points in the quarter, all right at the hoop.

No team made a three-pointer for the first five minutes of the quarter, before Mike Conley hit one. Josh Green and Naz Reid also added triples, though it should be no surprise that Reid's shot was set up by a blocked dunk.

While Jaden McDaniels was lighting up from deep in Game 1, he also took his turn throwing it down in the third.
