Watch: Indiana Fever make it official, draft Caitlin Clark No. 1 overall

There was no surprise at the top of the 2024 WNBA Draft.

The Indiana Fever selected guard Caitlin Clark with the No. 1 overall pick in a decision that will shock absolutely no one.

Clark led Iowa to the Final Four the past two seasons and set numerous NCAA records while with the Hawkeyes.

She's the all-time leading scorer in major college basketball, with the most threes (548) and the highest career point per game average (28.4).

After being selected by the Fever, Clark spoke with ESPN's Holly Rowe.

"I got a little anxious before the pick. But I think more than anything, I'm just grateful," Clark said about her feelings at the moment before and after hearing her name called.

Clark joins a Fever team that selected former South Carolina center Aliyah Boston as the No. 1 pick last year and former Ohio State guard Kelsey Mitchell as the No. 2 pick in 2018.

The league and fans long expected the Fever to select Clark. Last week, the WNBA unveiled its television schedule for the upcoming season, and 36 of 40 Indiana's games were placed on national television.

The following day, the team announced it had seen a "spike" in ticket sales, according to ESPN's Stephen Holder.

The Fever kick off their season against the Connecticut Sun on May 14.
