Dodgers' Tyler Glasnow continues dominance in loss to Padres

In his second start against the San Diego Padres Friday night, Tyler Glasnow put on a pitching clinic.

Glasnow pitched seven dominant innings, striking out 10 Padres batters with his only blemish being a solo home run by Luis Campusano.

The Dodgers would lose the game in the ninth inning on a walk-off single by Luis Arraez, snapping the team's seven-game winning streak.

Glasnow has put together four outstanding pitching performances since giving up six runs and suffering a loss to the Washington Nationals on April 15. During that span, he struck out 39 batters while only allowing four runs in 28 innings.

The Santa Clarita native has been everything the Dodgers hoped he would be when they gave him a $136.5M contract after trading for him this offseason. His season ERA now sits at 2.53 and he leads MLB in strikeouts with 73.

Glasnow has also given the Dodgers length, which was a question coming into the season due to his history with injuries. He has now gone seven innings in three of his last four starts and four out of his last six.

Glasnow's amazing start to the season has put him in early conversations for the Cy Young. According to DraftKings his odds to win the award are +550, just behind Zack Wheeler.

Los Angeles' offense could not gain any momentum against Padres starter Micheal King, who put up his own dominant performance. He pitched seven innings as well and struck out 11 Dodgers. The only run scored by the Dodgers was on a Freddie Freeman sacrifice fly in the eighth inning.

The two teams are back at it on Saturday with Matt Waldron from the Padres going up against James Paxton.
