Draymond Green 'loves' his pick of Dallas winning NBA title

The Western Conference Finals between the Mavericks and Timberwolves feels like a pick-em series, with no decided favorite. That would explain why Minnesota started the series as a slight favorite (-180 to +140) until those odds shifted in Dallas' favor after it stole Game 1 on the road.

If the Mavericks get past the Timberwolves, they will have defeated three higher seeds en route to the NBA Finals — the fourth-seeded Clippers, top-seeded Thunder, and third-seeded Timberwolves. The hard-fought journey will have prepared them for a finals clash against the Celtics or Pacers.

Dallas' path to a potential title excites Draymond Green. In an interview with "Point Game Podcast," the Warriors star explained why the Mavs have the needed tools to win their first NBA title since 2011.

"Honestly, the team that I love right now is Dallas," Green told former NBA player John Wall. "And the reason I love Dallas is they have every piece that you need in order to win the championship. They got wing defenders and big men — a couple of big men they can rotate — Dwight Powell doesn't even see the court. When you look at their depth, you got Josh Green coming off the bench that can mix it up; Tim Hardaway who hasn't had the best shooting year but can get hot at any moment."

As has been the case with nearly every title-winning team in history, the star(s) need ideal complimentary players. Green believes Dallas has done just that for its two stars — Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.

"I just think they are a team that has the pieces around the guys to make it all work," Green continued. "When you look at Luka and Kyrie, and what they bring to the game — those are two of the most unguardable guys in our league. On any given night, they both can go for 40. I just think they got the pieces to do it."

Green also praised Irving's leadership for giving the Mavs a championship-level mindset.

The Mavs' midseason turnaround has been nothing short of extraordinary. As of March 16, they were the eighth seed before going on a 12-3 run to finish the season as the fifth seed. They rode the momentum into postseason series wins over the Clippers and Thunder and have remained hot against the T'Wolves.
