Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Sal Frelick had extra juice on the base paths against his former manager on Thursday.
In the finale of a four-game series with the Chicago Cubs, Frelick gave Milwaukee an early 2-1 lead in the second inning when he scored from first on a double by third baseman Joey Ortiz.
He barely beat the tag at the plate by Cubs catcher Miguel Amaya, sneaking his left hand past Amaya's glove and touching home before he could be called out.

The Brewers won two of the first three games in the series, Cubs manager Craig Counsell's first trip to Milwaukee since leaving the franchise in November 2023.
Counsell signed a five-year, $40 million contract with the Cubs following nine seasons as Brewers manager. He finished with a winning record in each of his last six full seasons in Milwaukee – the team went 29-31 in the pandemic-shortened 2020 season – while guiding the team to five playoff appearances.
In Monday's series opener, Counsell was booed by home fans who haven't gotten over his stunning offseason move to their division rival.
Afterward, Counsell took the jeers in stride, saying, "The fans are here to enjoy the day... They can do what they want. Hopefully they had a good time."
They're likely still enjoying themselves early on Thursday with the home team up 3-1, thanks partly to Frelick's expert base running.
