Kings make huge decision on head coach Mike Brown

The Sacramento Kings are putting their trust in head coach Mike Brown for the foreseeable future.

Brown and the Kings have agreed to a three-year contract extension worth a total of $30 million, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania. The deal will keep Brown under contract through the 2026-27 season.

The two sides had been negotiating an extension over the last few weeks. Brown and the team had reportedly been a few million apart and even tabled talks recently after reaching what appeared to be an impasse. There were even rumblings that the Kings’ ownership group became frustrated with Brown.

Brown had reportedly wanted $10 million per year, which is exactly what the Kings front office eventually paid him.

Last season, Brown led the Kings to their first playoff appearance since 2006. Brown has a 94-70 record in his two seasons with the Kings.

Sacramento finished with a 46-36 record this season but missed the playoffs after being ravaged by injuries to guards Malik Monk and Kevin Huerter.
